Chigasaki City Museum of Art

Located within the premises of Takasuna Green Space Park, the museum currently houses approximately 2,000 works of art, mainly by artists and works of art associated with the city of Chigasaki. Among them, the core of the collection includes works by Yorozu Tetsugoro, who has left his mark on Japanese modern art history, Tsuchiya Koitsu, who was an important artist in the shin-hanga movement and a pupil of Kobayashi Kiyochika, and Aoyama Yoshio, whose sense of color was recognized by Matisse. In recent years, the museum has also been actively collecting works by emerging artists based in Kanagawa Prefecture, and is striving to create a collection that expresses the unique character of Shonan.
