Takasuna Green Space Park
Nature
Takasuna Green Space Park, a lush green area that retains its original landscape of pine trees, was once the villa belonging to Kawakami Otojiro, an actor during the Meiji era. It was later used as a villa for Hara Yasusaburo (former chairman of Nippon Kayaku), and in 1984, the city of Chigasaki purchased it and opened it as the green space park. It is currently home to an art museum, the Hiratsuka Raicho Monument, and Shoraian, a teahouse and study with an authentic Japanese-style garden. The Shoraian garden is one of the city's best plum blossoming spots, where a plum festival is held every February boasting around 50 plum trees in bloom.
