This old private house has undergone very few renovations and retains the appearance of a large residential house from the late Edo period. According to old documents passed down through its former owner, the Wada family, it is known to have been built by Seiemon, the 11th head of the family, and a building plaque inscribed with "March of Ansei 2" (1855) still remains. It was donated to the city in April 1982, relocated and restored from Hagisono in the city, and opened to the public in April 1985.
