It belongs to the older group of the priest Nichiren statues in Japan and is a valuable statue among the Buddhist sculptures in the city. It has a height of 42.0 cm, a width of 65.6 cm between both sleeves, and a width of 35.5 cm between the knees, made with joined wood-block construction, has crystal eyes embedded within, and is colored (repaired in later years). The head and the torso are carved from a single wood, split horizontally at the neck and vertically into the front and the back parts behind the ears to be hollowed and rejoined. The body parts are made from six pieces of wood, split to be hollowed and rejoined. Inside the back of the statue, there is a seven-line vertical inscription that is written in ink and means "August 13th/Head of the Sect, Nichi-[a part of the name indecipherable]-bo/Namu Myoho Renge Kyo/Temple petitioner, Bukkokuji Zenkobo/Nichiju/Respectfully yours/At the time of Eiroku 7 (1564), the year of the Rat".
